Currently, there are two types of seedling trays used for mechanized rice transplantation. One is a rectangular plastic seedling tray. Subsoil is placed in the seedling tray to form a seedbed. The seedlings are randomly scattered on the seedbed in an orderly manner, and the resulting seedlings are blanket-like seedlings. When transplanting rice seedlings, the rice transplanter's claws grab a certain area of seedlings on the blanket of seedlings and implant them into the field. The number of rice seedlings grabbed each time is usually three to five, sometimes 6-10, and the cavity rate is about 5%. Another kind of seedling raising tray is composed of concave bowls arranged in a certain order on a rectangular flat plate. Seedlings are sown in the bowls. The seeding amount in each bowl is fixed and can be changed according to needs. The seedlings grown in each bowl are The spaces are independent and not connected together. The former type of seedling raising tray is the main method of machine-transplanted seedlings in Japan and Korea, and is also used in the breeding of conventional rice transplanted by machines in my country. The planting area of hybrid rice in my country accounts for about 50% of the rice planting area. The transplanting density of hybrid rice requires 40-80% lower than that of conventional rice, with 1-2 plants per cluster. Blanket seedlings cannot meet the requirements for machine transplanting of hybrid rice. Although the bowl-shaped seedlings cultivated by the latter seedling tray can achieve 1-2 plants per bowl, they cannot be arranged in an orderly manner on the rice transplanter after being separated from the bowl tray.
